The whole thing was a circus event, why it captured the nation is anyone's guess, but blame the media - they show some pics of a young beautiful woman, cut to a scene of her drooling for a kiss (the one rare time her body reacted that way) and then cry out that she should remain alive.
People with nothing better to do pick up her cause, who didn't know her from a hole in the ground only a week prior. She also became a political prize to others, an even bigger shame.
This blog, as distateful as some of the comments have been, is in itself just a response to all the attention being generated.
I defend the concept to create the blog, and post whatver you want on it...it allows for comments free of backlash, that are wide open and completely uncensored opinions....for BOTH sides.
If there is a hell, it is only that mind trap that Terri was in for the past 15 years. It's a fact, she was beyond help, her brain was porridge.
Why people were fighting to keep someone in that state of existence is beyond me....that is shameful cruelty, not this blog.
She's gone now, and the public mass of opinion now looks for something else to defend.
Posting comments, choosing to fight for her to live, laughing or crying at this blog are all options for the living, there is no right or wrong...just our actions that define us to others that in turn judge those actions.
That said, Nguuuuh - is funny.
There is a sick humour in that which I'm sure hits alot of people...it's built into our nature to find laughter in any situation...to deny that is to lie about yourself - and nobody is above it. At one time or another we have laughed at someones misfortune, or been laughed at. It's a fact of life.
All crude variations of the above are what others still find funny, and some might not...but at least the scale is there for the living to react to.
Terri, you're gone - but at least you've briefly opened the eyes and minds of many people. You've been grieved over, laughed at, fought over and pawned over. You've been the subject of national debate, been the topic of the darker side of humour, and have had laws passed and refuted in your name. You've illicted so much reaction from everyone when literally have done nothing.
Terri, my child, your sins of gluttony are your own doing. I had to give you a nice big shot to your head for wolfing down all those catons of Dairy Queen Friendly's Ice cream (both of which are heart attacks in a bowl). TO ALL MY CHILDREN: We must learn from Terri's case; not ridicule it. Mrs. Schiavo was a young woman whose quest for perfection caused her her brain and eventually her life. Terri has a bigger legacy than a law made by the United State's un-elected President that makes the removal of life support illegal. My Father shall take whoever He wants whenever He wants, no matter how hard Tom DeLay and Rick Santorum campaign to stop Him. While Terri's case was a tragic one, there are many people throughout the world that are in a much worse condition than she was. About 30,000 children starve to death every day because their countries are so poor. We need to do all we can to help them. If the life of one woman can cause the USA to go insane, then imagine what the deaths of thousands of people should be able to do. Extremes do no good for humanity. It is only peace and compromises that truly improve the state of the Earth. Sometime in the next year, feed a sickly hungry child in Terri's name. If everyone who was touched by Mrs. Schiavo could feed one hungry person in a third world country then that would truly show how much they care about the sanctity of life. I bless you all.
